Second, the ear āyatana. The part of the body that faces sound and has the capacity to hear sound is called the ear. The ear is form derived from the four great elements; it is likewise jointly constituted by ten forms, namely the four great elements, the four subtle atoms, the subtle atom of the body faculty, and the subtle atom of the ear faculty.
