Second, from "Accordant with principle..." downward, clarifying sympathetic resonance in terms of the three thousand. First, taking the three truths as analogous, self and other are fundamentally identical. Since the three thousand are identical to emptiness, provisionality, and the middle, they are the three thousand of the three virtues and three truths. For self-cultivation, purity and defilement vanish, and there is nothing that is not emptiness and the middle; for benefiting others, interwoven like Indra's net, the three thousand are all provisional. Since the three truths are identical—three being one—self and other are differentiated yet undifferentiated. However, what is analyzed now as self and other both reside in the subtle provisional, because both the active transformer and what is transformed are the three thousand. Wishing to discuss nonduality in terms of the three truths, it is tentatively analyzed in contrast to emptiness and the middle. If even the subtle provisional is not apart from emptiness and the middle, how could a single provisional be kept separate?
