First, reiterating the intention of the major work. It raises the ten subtleties again to bring out their intention: the active transformer is response, together with spiritual powers and preaching the Dharma; the transformed is sympathetic resonance, along with retinue and benefit. These ten are the names that express [the truth] throughout the teachings of a lifetime. The intention of the major work in clarifying this lies in opening and revealing all names so that they are completely wondrous. The reason one must distinguish the ten is to fully encompass beginning and end, self and other. "Beginning" refers to objects, etc., which are the causes of one's own practice; "end" refers to the three dharmas, which are the fruits of one's own practice; self and other are as stated before. If one distinguishes these ten and each is completely wondrous, then one fully understands the Tathāgata's intention in appearing in the world.
