二明十住者，十住名如前說，今明初發心住，略為四意：一正釋初發心住，二明經說不同，三略辨功德，四類明九住。

Second, explaining the ten abidances. The names of the ten abidances are as stated previously. Now, explaining the abidance of the initial arousal of the mind, there are briefly four points: first, properly explaining the abidance of the initial arousal of the mind; second, explaining the differences in what the sūtras teach; third, briefly distinguishing the virtues; fourth, analogously explaining the [other] nine abidances.
