6.10

此之七聖，名真沙門。沙門有二種：一者直言沙門，沙門即因也；二者沙門那，沙門那者果也。或沙門有八十九，所謂見諦八忍、思惟八十、一無礙也。就沙門那，亦有八十九，所謂見諦八智、思惟八十、一解脫也。就沙門那，復有二種：一有為果，八十九有為果也；二無為果，八十九無為果也。此約智斷，明約智德明八十九有為果，約斷德明八十九無為果也。

These seven sages are called true śramaṇas. There are two kinds of śramaṇa: first, simply called 'śramaṇa,' which is the cause; second, 'śramaṇatā,' which is the fruit. Or, there are eighty-nine śramaṇas, namely the eight patiences of seeing the truths and the eighty-one unhindered [paths] of cultivation. Regarding śramaṇatā, there are also eighty-nine, namely the eight wisdoms of seeing the truths and the eighty-one liberations of cultivation. Regarding śramaṇatā, there are further two kinds: first, conditioned fruits, which are eighty-nine conditioned fruits; second, unconditioned fruits, which are eighty-nine unconditioned fruits. This is in terms of wisdom and severing: explaining the eighty-nine conditioned fruits in terms of the virtue of wisdom, and explaining the eighty-nine unconditioned fruits in terms of the virtue of severing.
