答：二乘厭患生死，自求涅槃，故先斷結。菩薩慈悲，先物後己，設乃因時斷思未得，無漏力弱，從其元意亦名未斷。

Answer: The two vehicles loathe birth-and-death and seek nirvāṇa for themselves; therefore they sever the fetters first. Bodhisattvas are compassionate, putting other beings first and themselves last; even if, during the stage of cause, they fail to sever deliberations, their non-outflow power is weak, and in terms of their original intent, they are also said not to have severed them.
