四、兼行六度，經云：「況復有人能持是經，兼行布施」等。福德力故，倍增觀心。五、正行六度者，經曰：「若人讀誦，為他人說，復能持戒」等，謂自行化他，事理具足，觀心無閡，轉勝於前，不可比喻。此五品位，圓伏五住煩惱，外凡位也，與別十信位同。

4. The concurrent practice of the six perfections. The sūtra states: 'How much more so if there is someone who can uphold this sūtra and concurrently practice giving,' and so forth. By the power of merit, one doubles the contemplative mind. 5. The correct practice of the six perfections. The sūtra states: 'If someone reads, recites, explains it to others, and can also uphold the precepts,' and so forth. This means that practicing for oneself and transforming others, phenomena and principle, are fully complete. The contemplative mind is without obstruction, growing vastly superior to before, beyond comparison. These ranks of the five preliminary grades completely subdue the afflictions of the five entrenchments; they are the ranks of external ordinary beings, equivalent to the ten faiths of the distinct teaching.
