謹案台教廣本抄錄五時八教，略知如此。若要委明之者，請看《法華玄義》十卷，委判十方三世諸佛說法儀式，猶如明鏡。及《淨名玄義》中四卷，全判教相。自從此下，略明諸家判教儀式耳。

Respectfully consulting the extensive works of the Tiantai school, I have excerpted the five periods and eight teachings, to be known in outline like this. If one wishes to understand them in detail, please consult the Fahua xuanyi in ten fascicles, which thoroughly analyzes the formats of Dharma preaching by the Buddhas of the ten directions and the three times as if in a clear mirror, and the four fascicles in the Jingming xuanyi, which fully analyzes the doctrinal forms. From here below, the formats of doctrinal classification by the various schools are merely outlined.
