Next, having bowed one by one to the ten Buddhas, the ten princes, and so on, kneel on alternate knees and disclose and lay bare [transgressions], weeping tears of sorrow, confessing and repenting before the Three Jewels, fully truthful and sincere, without flattery or deceit, not concealing anything, speaking freely according to the practitioner's power of wisdom. Next, make vows: wishing, together with all enemies and kin throughout the Dharma realm, to transform, wash away, cultivate, and purify. Next, circumambulate one hundred and twenty circuits, reciting the dhāraṇī one hundred and twenty times—one circuit per dhāraṇī recitation, with a voice neither coarse nor thin, neither too slow nor too fast, appropriately measured. Having finished the circumambulation and recitation, bow to the ten Buddhas and the ten princes, again briefly disclosing and making vows, and then sit back to contemplate, contemplating the one true reality. (The method of contemplation appears in other texts.) After contemplation, rise again, adjust one's robes, make one bow to the Buddhas, circumambulate again for one hundred and twenty circuits, and recite the dhāraṇī one hundred and twenty times. Having finished the dhāraṇī circumambulation, bow to the Three Jewels, state one's sins and faults oneself, and return to sitting contemplation. Having done this, begin again from the start. Only on the second day is the invocation omitted; the remaining matters continue through the end of seven days.
