弟子總持和南。歲聿云暮寒氣殊重，禪悅經行願常安樂。弟子頃來每多勞疾，但睽覲稍久唯用傾結，仰度所營功德已當究竟。今遣左親信伏達奉迎，願便事沿流延遲諮具。謹和南。十一月十五日。

Your disciple Zongchi bows his head. The year draws to a close and the cold is exceedingly severe; in your joy of dhyāna and walking meditation (caṅkrama), may you always be peaceful and joyful. Your disciple of late has frequently suffered from fatigue and illness; having been separated from you for quite a while, I am filled with anxious longing. I respectfully reckon that the meritorious deeds you undertook must now be concluded. I now dispatch the Left Trusted Attendant Fu Da to welcome you; I hope you will immediately follow the current, as I look forward to consulting you in detail. Respectfully bowing my head. Fifteenth day of the eleventh month.
