弟子總持和南。逮旨送初卷義疏，跪承法寶，粗覽綱宗，悉檀內外耳未曾聞，故知龍樹代佛不可思議。今所著述，肉眼未覩明闇，謹復研尋遲此覲接。謹和南。

Your disciple Zongchi pays homage. Receiving your order sending the first roll of the Commentary on the Meaning, I knelt to receive the Dharma-jewel and perused its general outlines; its inner and outer siddhāntas are things my ears had never heard before, so I know Nāgārjuna acted in place of the Buddha in an inconceivable way. As for the present composition, mortal eyes have not yet fathomed its light and darkness; I shall respectfully study and investigate it further, looking forward to meeting you face-to-face. Respectfully paying homage.
