天台寺沙門智越等啟。使智璪還，奉宣正月十三日勅旨并施物五百段，謹即集眾佛前，敬對使人如法呪願。越等有幸喜逢聖世，伏蒙慈勅喜懼已隆，復領厚賚恩賜彌重。竊惟輪王地水已覺難消，況天府妙物寧恭受用。庶藉勅慈，又承佛力，罄竭心膂。導師遺訓專修禮誦，上答天澤，不任悚荷之至。謹附楊州使奉謝以聞。謹啟。大業元年三月十七日。

The monk Zhiyue and others of Tiantai Monastery report: The envoy Zhizao has returned, respectfully conveying the imperial edict of the thirteenth day of the first month together with the donation of five hundred bolts of goods. We immediately gathered the assembly before the Buddha, respectfully facing the envoy to pronounce the prayers according to the Dharma. We are fortunate to joyfully encounter this sagely age; prostrating ourselves in receipt of the compassionate edict, our joy and awe were already immense, and now having received this generous bounty, the gracious bestowal is even more profound. We humbly reflect that even the earth and water of a Wheel-turning King are felt to be difficult to consume; how much more so the wonderful goods of the heavenly storehouse—how could we presume to receive and use them? We hope, relying on the imperial compassion and receiving the Buddha's power, to exhaust all our heart and strength. In accordance with the Teacher's bequeathed instructions, we devote ourselves to cultivating worship and recitation to repay the celestial bounty above, unable to bear our utmost awe and gratitude. We respectfully attach this to the Yangzhou envoy to present our thanks for [Your Majesty's] hearing. Respectfully submitted. The seventeenth day of the third month of the first year of Daye.
