弟子柳正善具成就稽首和南。暄和不審尊體起居何如，伏願禪法喜悅。去歲經蒙一旨，至今保持奉齎十卷玄義，往仁壽宮服讀八遍，麁疑略盡細閡難除。新治六卷并入文八軸，為莊染未竟，少日鑽研。大王今遣使人蕭通國，參承書意自當仰簡，頻被顧問奉答必來。伏願夏竟便待舟檝，冀此殘生盡心聽受，懺悔往日懈惰昏沈。謹啟。

Your disciple Liu Zhengshan, having fully accomplished the precepts, bows his head in homage. In this warm and harmonious season, I do not know how your revered health and daily life are; I humbly pray that your dhyāna and Dharma are joyful. Last year I was favored with an instruction, which I have maintained to this day. Reverently carrying the ten fascicles of the Profound Meaning (Xuanyi), I went to the Renshou Palace and read them through eight times. Rough doubts were largely exhausted, but subtle obstacles were hard to eliminate. The newly edited six fascicles, together with the eight scrolls of commentary, have not yet been mounted and dyed, so I have spent a few days delving into them. The Prince has now dispatched his envoy Xiao Tongguo to convey his respects; the import of his letter will naturally be examined by you. Having been repeatedly questioned, I answered that you would surely come. I humbly hope that when the summer ends you will forthwith await the boat, in the hope that in this remaining life I may listen and receive with all my heart, repenting of my past negligence and torpor.
