及被問疑書引《輔行》難之，知非理觀，乃轉計云：此玄文直顯心性，義同理觀。而不知錯下直顯心性之語專是約行。端坐十乘及並我一念橫竪照之，正是攝諸三法入一念心成乎圓觀，乃是附法觀心。

When challenged by the *Letter Questioning Doubts* citing the *Fuxing*, knowing it was not principle contemplation, you shifted your view, saying: 'This text of the *Xuanyi* directly reveals the mind-nature, the meaning of which is identical to principle contemplation.' Yet you did not realize that your mistaken phrase 'directly reveals the mind-nature' pertains exclusively to practice. Sitting upright in the ten vehicles, and together with my single thought-moment illuminating horizontally and vertically—this is precisely gathering the threefold dharmas into a single thought-moment of the mind to accomplish the perfect contemplation; this is contemplating the mind by appending to teachings.
