'Second, explaining the three bodies by contemplating the mind: Wherever there is a mind, the mind is precisely dharmatā; dharmatā is fundamentally pure, and fundamental purity is the dharmakāya. When contemplating the mind corresponds [with principle], being bright without darkness is the meaning of spotlessness; the meaning of spotlessness is the fruition retribution body of wisdom and severance. In accordance with benefiting living beings, all phenomena that arise are like illusions, like transformations, the moon in water, or images in a mirror; harmonizing its light without defilement is the meaning of the nirmāṇakāya responding to conditions. These three meanings are neither vertical nor horizontal, serving as the seed of bodhi, and so forth.'
