嗚呼！惟將義同及以異名影帶明具理觀之義，還是久修者自作觀心否？始習者自於止觀修行否？皆非教文示於觀法之式。如此說具觀心義，越彰不具也。

Alas! By merely relying on sameness of meaning and different names to implicitly suggest possessing the meaning of principle contemplation, is it still the case that long-practicing ones perform contemplation of the mind on their own, or is it that beginners cultivate practice in the Zhiguan on their own? Neither is the model of demonstrating contemplation methods in the doctrinal texts. To say in this way that they possess the meaning of contemplating the mind all the more demonstrates that they do not possess it.
