六年癸卯　是歲日本國師遣僧問難。本序曰：咸平六年癸卯歲，日本國僧寂照等，齎本國天台山源信禪師於天台教門致相違問目二十七條，四明（知禮）憑教略答，隨問書之。

Sixth year, guimao. In this year, a Japanese National Preceptor sent monks to pose difficulties. The original preface says: 'In the guimao year, the sixth year of Xianping, the Japanese monks Jakushō and others presented twenty-seven queries regarding discrepancies within the Tiantai doctrinal teachings raised by Dhyāna Master Genshin of Mount Tiantai in their country; Siming (Zhili), relying on the teachings, briefly replied, answering question by question in writing.'
