九年丙辰　時年五十七。《實錄》云：師年五十七，誓願修法華懺。三年懺滿，焚身供養妙經，誓生淨土。

Ninth year, bingchen: At this time he was fifty-seven years of age. The Shilu states: 'When the Master was fifty-seven years old, he made a vow to cultivate the Lotus Repentance. Upon completing three years of repentance, he would burn his body as an offering to the wondrous sūtra and vow to be born in the Pure Land.'
