五年辛酉　時年六十二，是年朝廷宣賜命修懺法。《行業記》曰：真宗知師名，遣中貴至所居，命修法華懺法，厚有賜予。中貴，俞源清也。師因俞子欲知懺法旨趣，為述《修懺要旨》，人到于今受其賜。又撰《別行玄疏記》，序題曰：天禧五年八月旦。又撰《觀經妙宗抄》，序題曰：天禧五年重陽下筆序。

Fifth year, xinyou: At this time he was sixty-two years of age. In this year, the imperial court issued an edict commanding him to cultivate the repentance ritual. The Xingye ji states: 'Emperor Zhenzong learned of the Master's renown and dispatched a palace dignitary to his dwelling to command him to cultivate the Lotus Repentance ritual, conferring generous gifts upon him. The palace dignitary was Yu Yuanqing. Because the venerable Yu wished to understand the essential purpose of the repentance ritual, the Master composed the Xiu chan yaozhi (Essential Purport of Cultivating Repentance) for him, and people to this day benefit from its bounty. He also composed the Biexing xuanshu ji (Subcommentary on the Mystical Commentary on the Separate Circulation [of the Avalokiteśvara Sūtra]), with the preface bearing the title: "First day of the eighth month of the fifth year of Tianxi." He also composed the Guanjing miaozong chao (Subcommentary on the Wondrous Purport of the Visualization Sūtra), with the preface bearing the title: "Prefaced with brush put to paper on the Double Ninth day of the fifth year of Tianxi."'
