消伏神呪，修行要道，功用難思。吾祖發揮，今人受賜。疏文既簡，讀者多迷。惟冠攝一經，實消伏三用，儻釋之不當，修者何依？今附本宗，略評此義，敢言益物，聊軌自心。時皇宋天禧元年丁巳歲十月既望敘。

The divine dhāraṇī of eradication and subjugation is an essential path of practice, whose functions are difficult to fathom. Our patriarch elucidated it, and people of today receive its bounty. The text of the commentary being concise, readers are often bewildered. It alone crowns and encompasses the entire sūtra, truly embodying the three functions of eradication and subjugation; if its interpretation is not correct, on what shall practitioners rely? Now, adhering to our school, I briefly evaluate this meaning; I dare not say it will benefit others, but merely use it to regulate my own mind. Prefaced on the day after the full moon of the tenth month in the ding-si year, the first year of the Tianxi era of the august Song dynasty [1017 CE].
