諸子勤勤習學，而於一家教觀津要，若何領會？由是敬率諸部文義四十二條，開幃試問。幸徵文說義，一一答上，庶幾開發後昆也。天聖甲子歲五月既望，延慶座主云。

You disciples study diligently, yet how do you comprehend the essential pivots of the doctrinal teaching and contemplation of our school? Therefore, respectfully compiling forty-two articles of textual meaning from the various treatises, I raise the curtain to examine you. I hope you will cite the texts and explain the meanings, answering each in turn, so that perhaps those who come after may be inspired and developed. On the sixteenth day of the fifth month in the jiazi year of Tiansheng [1024 CE], spoken by the lecture master of Yanqing.
