以上四聖諦義，謹按山家教觀，略述梗概如斯。（自仁）言詞孟浪、學問疎慵，伏惟和尚不棄荒蕪，肯賜慈覽。至幸。　門人（自仁）謹答。

The above meaning of the Four Noble Truths is respectfully and briefly outlined here according to the doctrinal teaching and contemplation of our school. The phrasing of [me,] Ziren, is reckless and my learning is indolent; I humbly hope that the preceptor will not discard its roughness, but deign to bestow his compassionate gaze. This would be supreme good fortune. Respectfully answered by the disciple Ziren.
