答：蓋邊表之中，如雲外月。用雖全於遮照，但是清淨真如體，不具於見思，安能起對法界？況復本來迷久，頓悟為難。既著有心強，則緣中力弱，故令始行先觀偏真者也。

Answer: Because the middle outside the extremes is like the moon beyond the clouds. Although its function is complete in obscuring and illuminating, it is merely the substance of pure suchness and does not inherently contain views and thoughts; how could it give rise to confrontation with the dharmadhātu? Furthermore, having originally been deluded for so long, sudden awakening is difficult. Since the mind attached to existence is strong, its power to condition the middle is weak; therefore, the beginner is made first to contemplate biased truth.
