答：正由《法華》能開《華嚴》，故得將心造之文立千如之境。如荊溪明《法華》佛慧，須發四味兼帶之大小，豈不以乳味兼權之教全同醍醐一實之詮。又如大師判《華嚴》為枝條，《法華》為根本，須會枝別以入本圓。今引用者，從會入後說也。

Answer: Precisely because the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka is able to open the Avataṃsaka, one can take the passage on mind-creation to establish the realm of the thousand suchnesses. Just as Jingxi explained that the Buddha-wisdom of the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka must awaken the great and small that are combined and carried along in the four flavors, how could the teaching combining the provisional in the milk flavor not be entirely identical to the exposition of the one reality of ghee? Moreover, just as the Great Master judged the Avataṃsaka to be the branches and the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka to be the root, one must integrate the separate branches to enter the original perfection. The present citation is spoken from after that integration and entry.
