Answer: Discrepancies between sūtras and treatises are not few in number; there is no need to harmonize them. Now, if we were to forcefully harmonize them: although this sūtra says that all have crystal for ground, what would prevent the trees and palaces from being purely of gold or silver, such that they could also be called worlds of gold and silver? Moreover, although the lands of their original dwelling had no bodhisattvas, when they were about to gather, in order to be like the other buddhas, they brought transformed bodhisattvas to serve as attendants; there should be no great obstacle in this. Furthermore, that the various lands are said only to be filled with bodhisattvas is spoken with respect to the opening and revelation of the present sūtra: it only transforms bodhisattvas and does not act for the two vehicles, directly taking the two vehicles to be bodhisattvas—what could be objectionable about this?
