二問：闡提成佛不成佛疑。《善戒經》云：若無菩薩性者，雖復發心勤修精進，終不能得阿耨菩提。《瑜伽論》云：無種性誦持瑜伽，以無種性故，雖則發心及修加行，不堪圓滿無上菩提。如是經論足顯闡提無成佛義，今天台宗於彼經論若何融會？

Question 2: Doubt concerning whether icchantikas attain Buddhahood or not. The *Śīlavaiśāradya Sūtra* states: "If one lacks the bodhisattva nature, even though one may generate the mind and vigorously cultivate diligence, one will never be able to attain anuttarā bodhi." The *Yogācārabhūmi Śāstra* states: "Those of no gotra who chant and uphold yoga, because they lack the gotra, even though they generate the mind and cultivate preparatory application, are incapable of fully perfecting unexcelled bodhi." Sūtras and treatises such as these sufficiently demonstrate that icchantikas do not have the meaning of attaining Buddhahood; how does the Tiantai school today harmonize them with those sūtras and treatises?
