三問：非情草木成佛不成佛疑。《涅槃經》云：若拘陀樹有心，我當授與阿耨菩提記。以其無心故，不與授記。《法相論》云：真如能為一切諸法所依。無心草木雖無所變，但有理性無行性，不可成佛（云云）。今天台宗如何解釋經論，建立非情草木成佛耶？

Question 3: Doubt concerning whether insentient grasses and trees attain Buddhahood or not. The *Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra* states: "If the kakuda tree had a mind, I would confer upon it the prophecy of anuttarā bodhi. Because it has no mind, I do not confer a prophecy upon it." The *Treatise on Dharmalakṣaṇa* states: "Tathatā can serve as the support for all dharmas. Although mindless grasses and trees are not what undergoes transformation, they only possess the nature of principle and lack the nature of practice, so they cannot attain Buddhahood," and so forth. How does the Tiantai school today interpret the sūtras and treatises to establish that insentient grasses and trees attain Buddhahood?
