5.104

崇矩吾前次附信，必領得了。起造畢，莫管人多少，須不住開講，於教著功，不擁文義，仍以進行為務、守戒為先。如汝者少，唯望汝流布。若或放逸，又成虛擲也。吾於餘事不能挂心，只慮教觀無人而墜。汝宜思之，當知吾志焉。夏初修方便，望汝冥禱相助。時中切冀將身本道。不具。

To Chongju: The letter I sent last time must have been received. When the construction is finished, do not worry about whether people are many or few; you must continuously open lectures, applying effort to the teaching without being hindered by literal meaning, and still take progressive practice as your duty and upholding the precepts as foremost. Those like you are few; I only hope that you will disseminate [the teaching]. If you happen to be indolent, it will again become a waste. I cannot keep other matters in mind; I only worry that doctrinal teaching and contemplation may fall for lack of people. You should reflect on this and understand my intention. In early summer I will cultivate the expedient means; I hope you will assist me with unseen prayers. At all times, I earnestly hope you will commit yourself to the fundamental Way. Incomplete.
