To Chongju: Recently Zejiao came and I received your letter. I learned that you lecture on the Suvarṇaprabhāsa at night and speak on the Zhiguan by day; being thus diligent for the Way, I rejoiced exceedingly upon hearing it. I also learned that you are building a monks' hall, so you surely have no mind to go to Xixi. As for what you said about being unwell, you should take medicine continuously, and perform prostrations, recitations, and prayers to seek the unseen assistance of the sages. Huinan has already been arranged into the hall; he merely follows the assembly to study, so what else is there to manage? Regarding the discussed explanation on interfusing the mind, I have now added two or three sentences after the answer to include it under the three grades [of rebirth], which will surely avoid contradiction. Why not simply say that the texts on the three grades conflict with each other? Why must you raise so many objections? It can truly be called 'raising a ten-foot wave from an inch of water'. This kind of mind should be cast aside, and only then can you transmit and communicate [the teaching]. This is to admonish you on the occasion of this matter; all hundred undertakings must follow this standard. The doctrinal teaching and contemplation of our Shan lineage are entrusted to you for propagation and protection. You must take good care of yourself, so that your body may be peaceful and the Way may flourish. There is nothing else to enjoin. Incomplete.
