5.112

崇矩論師。不見汝面僅十六年，不得汝書亦十年矣。昨聞西游京都，遽蒙宣召講演，復賜命衣，深為吾門之美事也。近知歸在天竺開講，尤副我心。此際書來，解吾思念。切在勤心慈接學流，仍須以香火為緣、以止觀為業。不行唯說，是吾之憂。若非為法須行利益邊事，此外不宜他適。當善調身，餘不細述。不具。

To Master of Treatises Chongju: I have not seen your face for nearly sixteen years, nor have I received your letter for ten years. Yesterday I heard that you traveled west to the capital, were suddenly summoned to deliver lectures, and were again bestowed a monastic robe; this is deeply a glorious matter for our lineage. Recently I learned that you returned to Tianzhu to open lectures, which especially fulfills my wish. Your letter arriving at this time relieves my longing. It crucially lies in diligently and compassionately receiving students; you must still take incense and lamps as your condition, and taking cessation and contemplation (śamatha-vipaśyanā) as your vocation. Practicing nothing and merely speaking is my worry. Unless it is for the sake of the Dharma that you must carry out matters of benefit, you should not go anywhere else. You should regulate your body well; the rest I will not recount in detail. Incomplete.
