The two guiding teachers, Fazhi and Ciyun, were like intertwining branches of the Dharma gate. As the saying goes, they were intelligent and discerning, well knowing the characteristics of passable and blocked paths on perilous roads. Their tones resonated together like gong and shang, harmonizing like metal and jade, powerfully assisting and praising the Tiantai school. Because of this, everyone knew evil could be abandoned and good could be done, so that down to the present, the Southeast is reputed to be easy to govern. Disciple Qingshi wished to carve this letter on stone and asked me for a colophon. East of the Dan Well in Zhichuan, struggling against illness, I write this; taking in the wild scenery reflecting the lake's radiance, I stepped out to look and read. Picturing their deportment, filled with emotion, I casually write this for them. Shangyuan Festival of the bingxu year of the Qiandao era [1166], disciple Daoyin reverently adds this colophon.
