憶昔昏霾萬里開，德星一點耀南台，修真名自神州起，
慕法僧多日本來。道樹幾將成巨蠧，
慧燈相次作寒灰，當時不假扶持力，塵劫茫茫事可哀。

I recall of old the dark haze clearing for ten thousand li,
As a single star of virtue shone upon the southern platform.
His name for cultivating the real arose from the Divine Land;
Many were the monks who admired the Dharma and came from Japan.
The tree of the Way was almost turned into food for great grubs;
The lamp of wisdom, one after another, became cold ashes.
Had it not relied on his supporting strength at that time,
Through boundless dust kalpas, the matter would be lamentable indeed.
