As for the framing passages of the Lotus [Sūtra] and Zhiguan, they were straightened and interwoven, leaving practically nothing omitted. Later students are sufficiently enabled to look at what is near and see what is far, and to dip their fingers to know the flavor. Does not the Book of Changes say: "To penetrate the aspirations of all under heaven, to establish the undertakings of all under heaven, to resolve the doubts of all under heaven"? This is truly achieved in these ten to twenty thousand words.
