This praises and extols his altruistic practice by means of the three dharmas of the Lotus [Sūtra]. The sūtra states: "Entering the room of the Tathāgata, wearing the robe of the Tathāgata, and sitting on the seat of the Tathāgata." Pervasively sheltering is named the "room"; warding off evil is named the "robe"; not being attached is named the "seat." To possess these three and thereby propagate the noble transformation is precisely to be a refuge for the world. The Analects states: "The Master gently and skillfully guides people forward." The commentary states: "'Gently' (xunxun) describes an orderly sequence. 'Guides' (you) means to advance."
