觀行即者，一、乾慧地也，未有理水，故得此名。即三乘外凡位。與藏教五停、別相、總相念齊。

Identity in contemplation practice is, first, the stage of dry wisdom: it gets this name because it does not yet have the water of principle. This is the rank of outer worldlings of the three vehicles. It is on par with the fivefold mental stabilization, the specific, and the general mindfulness of the Tripiṭaka teaching.
