復次，修發願方法。（行者應知，發願要期，應以菩提、涅槃二種果報而為所歸，能滅漏欲及退轉障。既知是已，當整威儀，起殷重心，五體投地，燒眾名香，而作是言：）

Next, the method of practicing making vows. (The practitioner should know that the essential objective of making vows should take the two kinds of fruit—bodhi and nirvāṇa—as its refuge, which can eradicate the desires of āsrava and the obstacle of regression. Having understood this, one should adjust one's deportment, arouse an earnest mind, cast the five limbs to the ground, burn various renowned incenses, and speak these words:)
