二、明灑散者，理須道場外別置淨地，或作小壇，香汁遍灑，務令嚴潔，以物承足，身立於中，旋轉四散，食盡為度。問：「此出何文？」答：「《百錄》、兩經，皆不云耳。此以意裁，務在生善，諒亦無咎。俟見他文，即依改貫，非晚也。」

Second, concerning the clarification of sprinkling and scattering: properly speaking, outside the bodhimaṇḍa one must separately arrange a clean plot of ground, or make a small altar, sprinkle fragrant water all over it, and make sure to render it adorned and clean. Using something to support the feet, stand inside it, turn around and scatter in the four [directions], taking the exhaustion of the food as the measure.
Question: "From what text does this derive?"
Answer: "Neither the Bailu nor the two sūtras mention it. This has been determined by my own judgment, with the aim of generating wholesome [roots]; presumably there is no fault. If other texts are seen [later], then following them to make corrections will not be too late."
