1.30

一心奉請南無忿怒明王金剛手菩薩摩訶薩。（《聖捺迦金剛童子菩薩成就軌儀經》中卷：「爾時，金剛手菩薩告大眾言：『此忿怒王有無量威德大神通力，善能調伏難調伏，故示諸方便。從於三昧生此菩薩，適纔憶念，一切鬼魅，悉皆馳走，一切惡心眾生，皆當損壞，一切災禍，悉皆除滅。』」經云：「此忿怒王菩薩，即金剛手。」是壇場主，彌加虔請，必希降臨。）

With wholehearted devotion we reverently invite namo the wrathful Vidyārāja, Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva Mahāsattva. (The middle fascicle of the Sheng najia jingang tongzi pusa chengjiu guiyi jing states: 'At that time, Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva addressed the great assembly, saying: "This wrathful king has immeasurable majesty and great supernatural power, being well able to subdue those difficult to subdue, therefore manifesting various skillful means. Arising from samādhi, this bodhisattva, at the mere recollection, causes all malevolent spirits to flee, all ill-intentioned sentient beings to be broken, and all calamities to be eliminated."' The sūtra states: 'This wrathful king bodhisattva is Vajrapāṇi.' Being the lord of the altar-ground, one should invite him with redoubled piety, earnestly hoping for his descent.)
