If one wishes to benefit and gladden all sentient beings of the four modes of birth and the like, one should write the Mahāmaṇivipulavimāna-supratiṣṭhita-guhya-dhāraṇī upon banners, halls and pavilions, or plain fine cotton, or paper and silk, or sūtra scrolls, or walls, plaques, and boards. For any sentient beings who briefly lay eyes upon it, touch it with their hands or bodies, pass through its shadow, or are in turn touched by another person who has done so; or again, if it is written and worn atop the head, on the body, or inside one's clothing; or written upon an object that emits sound and someone hears that sound, or reads it, or recites it, or merely hears the name of this dhāraṇī—even if such sentient beings have been unfilial to parents, disrespectful to śramaṇas, disrespectful to brāhmaṇas, disrespectful to elders, have slandered the True Dharma, slandered the noble ones, are destined to fall into hell, have slandered the Buddhas, slandered the bodhisattvas, killed an arhat, committed the five heinous sins, killed a brāhmaṇa, killed calves, engaged in robbery and theft, told deliberate lies, taken what is not given, indulged in illicit passion, engaged in double-tongued speech, spoken harsh words, used light scales and small measures, forcibly seized property, concealed others' belongings, broken their word and betrayed trust, engaged in hunting, butchering, or execution—all such sins will be completely eliminated, and they will definitely attain anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi. In the present life, they can obtain immeasurable hundreds of thousands of merits, and will constantly be loved and respected with joy by kings, princes, ministers, and the four assemblies; they will not suffer the various worldly pains, nor the disasters of poison, swords, clubs, water, fire, and the like; all lions, tigers, wolves, and evil birds and beasts will not dare to do them harm; furthermore, they will be free from all perils of thieves and bandits, ghosts and spirits, demonic apparitions, and poisonous snakes; moreover, in their present bodies they will not suffer from all kinds of illnesses, namely: all malarial diseases, eye diseases, ear diseases, nose diseases, tongue diseases, tooth diseases, lip diseases, throat diseases, head diseases, neck diseases, limb diseases, hand diseases, back diseases, waist diseases, navel diseases, hemorrhoids, strangury, dysentery, fistula and ulcer diseases, thigh diseases, foot diseases, furuncle diseases, swelling diseases, scrofula diseases, spotted rashes, belly diseases, scabies, blister diseases, leprosy, and ringworm diseases—all such diseases will not attach to their bodies; they will not be afflicted by sorcery, gu-poison, or curses; they will be free from untimely and disastrous death; they will sleep in peace and awake in peace; when their life is about to end, their minds will not be scattered, and all Buddhas will appear before them to offer comfort. Furthermore, all animals—deer, birds, mosquitoes, gnats, flying moths, mole crickets, and ants—and even all sentient beings born from wombs, eggs, moisture, or transformation, who hear the name of this dhāraṇī, touch it with their bodies, or pass through its shadow, will definitely attain unsurpassed bodhi, and so forth.
