夫數珠者，記心之奇術、積功之初基，持之者成德、戴之者滅垢，世出世果，莫不田斯，故今依經略示其相。然准《金剛頂瑜伽念珠經》云：

Now, the rosary is a marvelous method for mindful retention, the primary foundation for accumulating merit. One who holds it accomplishes virtue, and one who wears it eliminates defilement. There are no mundane or supramundane fruits that do not find their fertile field in this. Therefore, following the sūtras, its characteristics are now briefly revealed. However, following the Vajraśekhara Yoga Rosary Sūtra, it is said:
