《文殊根本一字陀羅尼經》云：「若誦此呪，能消一切災障、一切惡夢、一切怨敵，能滅五逆十惡一切罪業，能除一切惡邪呪法，亦能成辦一切善事。種種呪中是諸佛心，能令一切所願皆得滿足。若發大心誦之一遍，即能守護自身；若誦兩遍，力能守護同伴；若誦三遍，力能守護一宅中人；若誦四遍，力能守護一城中人；若誦五遍，力能守護一國中人；若誦六遍，力能守護一天下人；若誦七遍，力能守護四天下人。」

The Sūtra on the Fundamental One-Syllable Dhāraṇī of Mañjuśrī states: 'If one recites this mantra, it can extinguish all disasters and obstacles, all bad dreams, and all enemies; it can eradicate all sinful karma of the five heinous crimes and ten non-virtues; it can eliminate all evil and heterodox spellcraft; and it can also accomplish all wholesome deeds. Among various mantras, this is the heart of all Buddhas, able to satisfy all desires. If one generates a great mind and recites it once, it can protect one's own body; if recited twice, its power can protect a companion; if recited thrice, its power can protect the people in a single household; if recited four times, its power can protect the people in a single city; if recited five times, its power can protect the people in an entire country; if recited six times, its power can protect the people under the entire heaven; if recited seven times, its power can protect the people under the four heavens.'
