The Supratiṣṭha Dhāraṇī Sūtra says: "If there are sentient beings who hear this dhāraṇī, accept, uphold, read, recite, practice, and mindfully recollect it, seeking great accomplishment, or even merely hear its name, or touch it with their hands, or wear it on their bodies, or merely cast their eyes upon it, or write it in a scripture, or write it on silk, or write it on a wall; if any sentient beings see it—whether they have committed the five heinous crimes or the four parajikas, slandered the True Dharma, slandered the noble ones, engaged in hunting or slaughter, or are blind, deaf, hunchbacked, mute, leprous, poor, destitute, caught in the net of Mara, afflicted by wrong views, or persecuted by evil stars—if such persons, or even any beings among the four modes of birth, hear the name of this dhāraṇī, they are certain to attain unexcelled bodhi. If it is written on clothing, placed on banners or plaques, or if beings hear its sound, touch it with their hands, come into contact with its shadow, or their bodies in turn touch other people, they are certain not to regress from unexcelled bodhi. In this present life they will obtain manifold merits, remain far from all sins, be loved and respected by all throughout the worlds, and receive offerings in all places. All kings, princes, ministers, imperial concubines, and their retinues will rejoice; they will be free from poverty and will not suffer worldly distress; disasters of poison, weapons, staves, water, fire, and evil beasts will not be able to harm them; they will be free from all fears and free from all sickness. At the time of death, their minds will not be scattered; all Buddhas will appear before them to comfort them; they will rest in peace and wake in peace; they will even see hundreds of thousands of Buddha realms in their dreams and see all the Buddhas and bodhisattvas surrounding them; none of the māras will be able to obstruct them, and no enemies will gain an advantage over them; their good roots will increase and they will obtain immeasurable merit, not to mention the incalculable merit of those who can recite and uphold it for a long time. Furthermore, without relying on specific times or days, and without restriction to dietary precepts, if one regularly recites it one hundred and eight times at dawn, whatever one seeks will all be accomplished."
