第三、辨經住滅者。謂釋迦牟尼佛一代正法五百年，像法一千年，末法一萬年。眾生滅盡，諸經悉滅。如來悲哀痛燒眾生，特留此經，止住百年。以斯文證，故知彼國雖是淨土，然體通上下，知相、無相，當生上位；凡夫火宅，一向乘相往生也。

"Third, the analysis of the sūtra's duration and extinction: This means that during Śākyamuni Buddha's lifetime [dispensation], the correct Dharma lasts five hundred years, the counterfeit Dharma lasts one thousand years, and the final Dharma lasts ten thousand years. When sentient beings are extinguished, all the sūtras will be completely extinguished. The Tathāgata, grieving with compassion for the beings tormented by burning, specially retains this sūtra to remain for one hundred years. Proved by these textual passages, we therefore know that although that realm is a Pure Land, its essence encompasses both upper and lower: those who know forms and are free from forms will be born in the upper ranks; ordinary mortals in the burning house, solely by relying upon forms, attain rebirth."
