1.54

又言攝生增上緣者，即如《無量壽經》四十八願中說。佛言：「若我成佛，十方眾生願生我國，稱我名字下至十聲，乘我願力，若不生者，不取正覺。」此即是願往生行人命欲終時，願力攝得往生，故名攝生增上緣。

Regarding what is called the adhipati-pratyaya of embracing sentient beings: it is as spoken in the forty-eight vows of the Infinite Life Sūtra. The Buddha said: "If, when I attain Buddhahood, sentient beings of the ten directions who aspire to be born in my land and recite my name down to ten times should not be born there by mounting the power of my vows, may I not attain perfect awakening." This means that when practitioners who aspire for rebirth are on the verge of death, the power of the vows embraces them so that they attain rebirth; hence it is called the adhipati-pratyaya of embracing sentient beings.
