Furthermore, as stated below in the contemplation of the flower throne, the Buddha addressed Ānanda: "Vaidehī! The Buddha will expound for you the Dharma for eliminating suffering and affliction. You should explain and expound it broadly for the great assembly." When he spoke these words, Amitāyus Buddha, Avalokiteśvara, and Mahāsthāmaprāpta appeared in response to his voice, standing in mid-air. When Vaidehī saw them, she bowed down, and having bowed, she said to Śākyamuni Buddha: "Now, through the Buddha's power, I am able to see Amitāyus Buddha and the two bodhisattvas. If after the Buddha's parinirvāṇa the sentient beings [wish to see them], how should they contemplate and see Amitābha Buddha and the two bodhisattvas?" The Buddha then addressed her: "If you and sentient beings wish to contemplate that Buddha, you should arouse visualizations: upon the ground of seven jewels, form the thought of a lotus flower. When the thought of the flower is accomplished, next you should visualize the Buddha. When visualizing the Buddha, this mind should visualize the thirty-two marks, from the uṣṇīṣa downward down to the paryaṅkāsana posture, visualizing each part of the body as well. As one's mind visualizes, the Buddha's body will immediately manifest." This is seeing the Buddha through the external addition of Amitābha's three powers; it is also called the adhipati-pratyaya of the samādhi of seeing the Buddha.
