問曰：彼西方淨土之處，為亦有穢土不？若有者，如何名淨土？若無者，亦如盧舍那佛千葉蓮花，一一花上有百億國，此一一國皆是穢土。如何蓮花藏世界盧舍那佛所坐花王之座淨葉之上而有穢土？又身子見穢、梵王見淨，此並淨穢二土同處而現。何故極樂唯有淨土而無穢土耶？

Question: In the place of that Western Pure Land, is there also an impure land or not? If there is, how can it be called a pure land? If there is not, it is also like the thousand-petaled lotus flower of Rocana Buddha: upon each and every petal are ten billion lands, and every one of these lands is an impure land. How is it that upon the pure petals of the seat of the flower king upon which Rocana Buddha sits in the Lotus Treasury World, there are impure lands? Moreover, Śāriputra saw impurity while the Brahmā King saw purity; both pure and impure lands appeared in the same place. Why then does Sukhāvatī have only a pure land and no impure land?
