問曰：若本期心願生淨土，心成上品、戒成勝因，可能招彼長時延增壽命。若本期心生天受戒，垂至終日願生西方，即將先所受戒無作功德招淨土報，如何復能感阿僧祇之命根也？

Question: If one originally resolved to vow for rebirth in the Pure Land, the mind becomes of the highest grade and the precepts become a superior cause, which could indeed bring about such a prolonged and extended lifespan. But if one originally resolved to be born in heaven when receiving the precepts, and only when nearing the end of one's life vows to be born in the Western realm, using the unmanifest merit of the precepts previously received to bring about the retribution of the Pure Land, how can one still bring about a lifespan of an asaṃkhyeya [of kalpas]?
