3.16

問曰：《無量壽經》說「於未來世經道滅盡，我以慈悲哀愍，特留此經止住百歲。」然一切經教皆化物利益，眾生讀誦受持咸滅重罪，乘聞正法皆得離苦。何為餘大乘經悉皆隱沒，唯留此教止住百年？

Question: The *Sukhāvatīvyūha Sūtra* says: 'In future ages when the scriptural path is completely extinguished, I, out of compassion and pity, specially retain this sūtra to remain for one hundred years.' However, all scriptures and teachings transform beings and bring benefit; when sentient beings read, recite, receive, and uphold them, they all extinguish heavy offenses, and by hearing the True Dharma, they are all able to leave suffering behind. Why is it that the other Mahāyāna scriptures will all disappear, and only this teaching will be retained to remain for one hundred years?
