4.14

問曰：諸有學者咸知西方勝於兜率百千萬倍，然恐淨土是彼殊方，諸願生人恐難得往。是以古今盛德碩學高僧咸謂難生，作兜率業。今既勸修淨土行，其義如何？斯疑最深，請除其惑。

Question: Scholars all know that the West is hundreds of thousands of times superior to Tuṣita, yet they fear that the Pure Land is an extraordinary realm and that those who vow to be reborn there will find it difficult to go. Therefore, eminent and vastly learned monks of great virtue, past and present, have all said it is difficult to be born there, and have instead undertaken the practice of Tuṣita. Now, since you encourage cultivating the practices of the Pure Land, what is the meaning of this? This doubt is the deepest of all; please remove this perplexity.
