問曰：《淨土論》云「大乘善根界，等無譏嫌名。女人及根缺，二乘種不生。」彼界云何得有聲聞？而經中說有無量無邊聲聞弟子皆阿羅漢等耶？

Question: The Treatise on the Pure Land says: 'The realm of Mahāyāna wholesome roots / is equal, without the names of censure; / women, the disabled, / and the seeds of the two vehicles are not born [there].' How can there be śrāvakas in that realm, when the sūtras state that there are immeasurable and boundless śrāvaka disciples, all of whom are arhats and so forth?
